1900 The first Elks Lodge to be chartered in Wyoming was chartered in Sheridan. Up until after World War Two, fraternal lodges were a major feature of male life in most localities in the United States, with a very high percentage of American men belonging to some sort of fraternal organization. 1900 Basin saw a record high temperature for the state of 114F. It is no longer the record high, as 115F was reached, in Basin, in 1983.
