How To Use This Site

This blog was updated on a daily basis for about two years, with those daily entries ceasing on December 31, 2013. The blog is still active, however, and we hope that people stopping in, who find something lacking, will add to the daily entries.

The blog still receives new posts as well, but now it receives them on items of Wyoming history. That has always been a feature of the blog, but Wyoming's history is rich and there are many items that are not fully covered here, if covered at all. Over time, we hope to remedy that.

You can obtain an entire month's listings by hitting on the appropriate month below, or an individual day by hitting on that calendar date.
Use 2013 for the search date, as that's the day regular dates were established and fixed.

Alternatively, the months are listed immediately below, with the individual days appearing backwards (oldest first).

We hope you enjoy this site.

1945  Two new Civil Air Patrol Squadrons formed, one in Kemmerer and one in Evanston.

The Civil Air Patrol is the officially axillary of the U.S. Air Force.  It had its origin in World War Two when the decision was made to employ the nation's light civil aircraft fleet for anti submarine patrols. The organization was kept after World War Two for the purpose of search and rescue, and continues to exist today for that purpose.  It has a cadet branch which exists as a species of Air Force JrROTC, but without the connection with specific schools like regular JrROTC.

2007  The first academic course class for Freshman to occur at Wyoming Catholic University.

1886. Geronimo Surrenders to Gen. Nelson Miles. He would live until 1909, becoming a farmer in later years.

1916  First Annual International Sweepstakes held at the Cincinnati Motor Speedway:

It's amazing to think of this occurring during the same time in which a titanic war was being fought in Europe.
